La Antilla

La Antilla is a beach where I go in summer mostly. It's in Huelva and it's known by its frozen water. If you stay with me, you will find some interesting details of this beach, it's secrets and some cool things to do here.

First of all, I must say that La Antilla hasn't got an independent town hall as most people thinks. It is part of Lepe and it's economy is basicly based in the tourism. Not many people are there apart from summer, but it's confortable though, and that's because the La Antilla true citizents (that's what they like to be called) are very kind and warm.

La Antilla's sunsets

One of the most beautiful things of La Antilla are its daily sunsets. If you want to see one of them, you need to be in the beach at 8.00 p.m. more or less. They are very colorful and sometimes, you even feel that they are from other world. They are very romantic as well, so if you have a special friend, you can invite them to the sunset!

If you have a pretty big wish, you can have a try and
 jump this enormous bonfire.

San Juan's Bonfires

People all over the world go to different beaches just to see this amazing event, that takes place the 23rd of June. However, I personaly think that La Antillas' bonfires are the best ones. It consisted in setting a fire in the beach with friends and have fun until it goes out. While fire endures, the legend says that if you through your wishes in a paper to the fire and you jump three times, they come true.

Katamaran

This cool sport is from 7-aged people onwards. It is very funny because you can have races with friends and even overturn! Katamarans are available in "Club de Vela" from La Antilla in case you want to hire one. The prices and all that stuff are there.

To sum up, I would like to say that I really like La Antilla, but mainly in winter, because I got used to the calm season of La Antilla.

What's in the jar?

"What's in the jar?" was a charity project created by the 4ºB and D bilingüal group. If you keep reading, here you will find how this enormous project was developed just from a little idea.

Let's move to the beginning. 2 months ago more or less our English teacher told us to investigate one charity from the United Kingdom and bring a little summary about what it does to help people in need. For our surprise, there was a very big range of charities, and people brought many charities' names and none of them were the same.

Afterwards, she made us create an event in groups in which you had to promote one of the charities with a project to get money for it. All of the groups had brilliant ideas, but, at last, only "what's in the jar?" stayed. It consisted in guessing the exact number of candies a jar contains paying 1€ in order to win them and all the money we got was for Cáritas.

Then, we had to write a formal letter for the principal teacher in order to set up all the stuff we had in mind. We created a committe and we had a meeting with him, and he gave us the permission we needed.

Meanwhile, the students that were not in the committe had another task. For example, one of the students had to create the posters we were going to stamp all over the school. He did a wonderful job I must say.

We continued working on the project, and we advertised it everywhere (even in Twitter). We promoted the hastag #GuessItAndGetIt.

Finally, everything was ready. The Cáritas representative came to the event. He was excited because pupils that were only 16 organised this huge project in order to help people that couldn't pay their electricity bills.

The bell rang, and more and more people started beting the number of sweets the jar had. Here you can see some pictures of the day.

We raised more than €100! And the number of sweets was 877. The winner was Paula Ruiz, from 4ºA, and she shared them with lots of people.

My best ability

One of my best abilities is running.

I discovered this ability when I was really young, because my father loved athletics and he saw I was that good really soon. He wanted me to be in a club, but my mother told to him "no", because I was too young to start competing.

Anyway, I must say that I really enjoy it. I feel as if I was a cheetat (maybe I'm exagerating, but it's true, I feel that!). Although I have to train a lot to have this feeling, it's not a problem.

By the way, I don't really think that I would dedicate my life to that, because it's not well paid and because I prefer another kind of job instead. I would leave this as a hobby maybe, I don't know.

To finish with, I can only say running is amazing!
